A Unique and Challenging Scheme

The regeneration of a rather rundown area of a city is not for the faint hearted and can provide some unique challenges. CR Construction (U.K.) Company Limited embarked upon this challenge in an area known as ‘Angel Meadows’ back in 2018.

The history of this area is fraught and sometimes fractured. It was during the Irish Famine in 1845 that saw many people who could not afford the long sea journey to America and the colonies settle in England, mainly in the larger cities where there was at least a prospect of finding work.

In Manchester, most of the migrants ended up in ‘Angel Meadows’. There was purpose-built housing constructed across 33 acres close to the city centre which housed between 20,000 and 30,000 people.

The dark streets, passageways and alleys that linked the housing, were dangerous places frequented by gangs and the area was known to be filthy, unhealthy and had a very high crime rate.

Today Angel Meadows dominates part of the Manchester skyline and we are excited about building a new community with luxurious apartments, luscious public realm space and a new lifestyle for those about to live in this area of Manchester.

The scheme will provide two hundred and eighty-six, one, two and three bedroomed luxury apartments and associated commercial space in two new glass-fronted twenty-two and seventeen storey towers.

It is sat in the very heart and at the beginning of what will be known as the ‘Northern Gateway’.

The development is due for completion in 2022
